Mari Leinan Lund secured her first triumph in the Nordic combined World Cup with victory in Oberstdorf, Germany. A jump of 102.5m was enough, with her 22-second advantage, to oust challengers Gyda Westvold and Ida Marie Hagen, who finished in second and third place respectively. The World Cup continues with the next German Trophy event in Schonach on January 27.

Mari Leinan Lund struck Nordic combined World Cup gold for the first time with victory in Oberstdorf.

The Norwegian jumped 102.5m and converted that 22-second advantage into her maiden top-level triumph.

Lund led from the front and never looked back to lead a fourth Norwegian sweep of the women’s podium this season.

Gyda Westvold Hansen took silver and bronze went to Ida Marie Hagen.

On the men’s side, Jarl Magnus Riiber extended his overall World Cup lead to 200 points with another classy win.

Thomas Rettenegger led after the ski jumping competition but Riiber started the ski only four seconds behind the Austrian.

He soon wiped out that advantage but faded in the latter stages and only held on to win by a second, with another Austrian in Johannes Lamparter snagging silver ahead of Rettenegger.
